Dear friends,
Based on the feedback from Lisa Paul (please read the mail below), how about asking the bible verse in the FFT to kindergarden students. They will not be writing the quiz. Their teacher (Divya) will ask them the verse during the class.
The interest level as high. We want to keep this rolling. For this, we need volunteers to come up with the FFT write-ups. Since we will have it based on the Gospel reading, it will be easier. I will send out the reading for the next few weeks.
Next week, since it is perunal, we will not have SS, and hence no FFT next week.
The week following that (Nov 20th) is the Annunciation to St.Mary, Mother of God. The Gospel reading is St.Luke 1:26-38. Can any one of you volunteer for preparing an FFT for this.... please :)
Thanks,
Rajesh

Dear all,In Golden words, I write "I am so proud of our Sabha, to know that we operate so many orphanages and old age homes in India". I believe, I am privileged and very much blessed to be a member of this sabha that has taken such a lead role in charity and reaching out to the needy. I want to acknowledge and salute every person who has worked so hard to start, operate, prayed and funded these organizations. To ensure that we teach and pass on the great work that is being done to our next generation, we had planned to start an awareness program about these orphanages in our Sunday School here in Austin, Texas. Being miles away across the globe, we started searching for information about these orphanages on the internet. To our surprise, we were not able to find much information about these organizations. We did see the names and phone numbers of these orphanages on a couple of sites, but did not have detailed information about their focus, challenges, needs and so on. The site, where we saw the names is located at http://www.orthodoxsyrianchurch.com/html/orphanages/orphan.htm Also, the MGOCSM diary was handy and has the names, address and phone numbers of these organizations. Also, we got the information about few organizations in the Sunday school textbook. We did see some hyperlinks to some sites. ex. makodiya mission. Please feel free to point us to any other source/site that we might have overlooked. To teach the students and create awareness, we would need to collect and share more information. We have contacted few people for the information. H.G.Theophilos thirumeni and H.G. Chrisostmos thirumeni have been helping us with their guidance. Since the details of these organizations are not available on the Internet, we started a project at our Sunday school to collect the information and create a web site with these information. The web site focuses solely on charitable initiatives. The work has started, and we are trying to add details about each orphanage. The main goal of this project is to create awareness across the globe about these institutions. Once we have all the information, we would be glad to transfer the site to our official sabha web site. With its global presence, ICON seems to be the best place to request for such information. We request the readers to provide us with any information that you may have about these organizations. If you belong to the place where this charity is located, please help us by sending pictures and information. To help people with collecting information, we have prepared a sample questionnaire that can be answered for each organisation. Please feel free to add more questions to it. 1. What is the focus of the orphanage? (Ex. Children of leprosy patients) 2. What is a typical day at the orphanage? 3. How are children admitted to the orphanage? 4. What are some of the dreams of an inmate there? 5. What are your 1 year, 5 year, and 10 year goal? 6. How can SS students help the org? 7. What are the in house short term Voluntary opportunities (would be even better if you could specify some roles for various occupations) 8. What are the in house long term Voluntary opportunities? 9. What are the Remote Voluntary opportunities? 10. What are the Facilities for Visitors (ex.Facility to be with the children for a dinner) 11. Do we have any Donation packages? 12. Cost for feeding all the children for a meal 13. Cost for feeding all the children for an entire day 14. Cost of sponsoring a child's education for a year 15. Cost of sponsoring a child expenses for a year 16. Cost of sponsoring books for a child. 17. Other immediate needs. 18. How are expenses met (ex. Raise cows in the farm, sale of riceā¦, donations) 19. What are the estimated expenses for various future projects (ex. adding a room, adding a new child?) 20. What are some of your challenges ahead? 21. Success stories of the alumni 22. Provide us photos of building, occasions, arts, creativity 23. Do you have an Email id that our students can communicate with the inmates there? 24. When are your Special occasions? 25. Do you have special Prayer needs? 26. Contact info 27. Please provide directions to the organization for visitors to visit you. 28. History of your organization (ex. When was it started, its growth over time.) 29. Articles (both about the org and also written by its inmates) 30. What is the best way of updating us with information about new projects and changes? We thank you for your time and help in collecting the information. Appologize for the long mail. If you have any questions/comments, please contact us at gregorianmedia@ gmail.com ( without the space after @) Thanks, Rajesh Vargheese, Austin, TX
